Chief Marketing Officer – High Ridge Brands

High Ridge Brands was formed in January 2011 when private equity firm Brynwood Partners acquired the Zest bar soap brand from Procter & Gamble. Since that initial acquisition, High Ridge Brands has grown exponentially to become America’s 4th largest nationally branded Hair Care manufacturer and North America’s 5th nationally branded soap manufacturer and distributor. In Hair Care, High Ridge Brands owns VO5, Rave, White Rain, Thicker Fuller Hair, L.A. Looks and Salon Grafix. Within Skin Cleansing, they own Zest and Coast. The company’s headquarters is in Stamford, Connecticut.

In June of 2016, one of the most successful private equity firms in the world – Clayton Dubilier & Rice – purchased High Ridge Brands from Brynwood Partners. CD&R’s goal is to drive significant enterprise growth, through a combination of continued aggressive acquisition of additional brands and strong organic growth leading to an IPO in 3-5 years.

The “Chief Marketing Officer” role is a new position within HRB, which reflects the organization’s total commitment to building world-class Marketing competencies. The CMO will be the functional Marketing leader, reporting to the CEO, responsible for managing the organic and profitable growth of the entire brand portfolio, driving brand(s) preference, enhancing brand(s) equities and delivering attractive financials. This is a highly visible, line role with P&L accountability and includes responsibility for all Marketing resources and agencies/external partners. The new Chief Marketing Officer will also work closely with the CEO, private equity partners, and the rest of the senior leadership team, to identify and assess future potentially attractive acquisitions for HRB in existing and new categories.

The candidates we’re seeking have the following profile:

  • CPG Marketing – Positioning, Segmentation, Portfolio Management, Innovation pipeline
  • Challenger Brand – Successful experience growing brands with fewer resources
  • Digital Competency – Able to integrate and drive Digital & Traditional Marketing synergy
  • P&L Ownership – Multi-brand P&L responsibility (preferably >$500MM)
  • Functional Development – Building and inspiring a high performance Marketing team
