Job Description
The Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) role at Northwestern Mutual – Metairie is responsible for driving financial representative’s productivity, revenue and market presence. The CMO position is part of a marketing partnership between the local Northwestern Mutual office and the corporate office in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

The CMO will hold a key leadership role within the office and is a management position on the Managing Partner’s leadership team. In this position the CMO (located in Metairie, LA) will be responsible for providing strategic marketing direction for the Metairie, Baton Rouge, Lake Charles, Lafayette and Shreveport, LA offices and to selected Financial Representatives.Position Responsibilities:

For the Local Network Office:

  • Develop and implement a strategic Marketing Plan and budget
  • Promote and build the Northwestern Mutual brand locally to enhance awareness and receptivity within targeted audiences
  • Identify target markets, develop a strategic plan to leverage opportunities and engage select financial representatives to execute
  • Oversee and execute sponsorships and events with targeted organizations which provide opportunities for selected financial representatives to connect and engage with ideal prospects, clients and Centers of Influence
  • Track and measure marketing program’s impact and overall ROI
  • Deliver marketing education and training (workshops and webinars) to selected financial representatives, their marketing staff and the office
  • Plan, manage and track marketing budgets
    For selected Financial Representatives within the Network and District offices:
  • Direct the development and implementation of customized marketing plans to enhance productivity and grow revenue
  • Conduct regularly scheduled marketing consultations with financial representatives and their staff to help drive their marketing plans, budgets, and overall marketing integration
  • Serve as the expert and resource on key marketing strategies and tactics for segmentation, prospecting, promotion, client experience, affinity marketing, center of influence development and enforce marketing
  • Provide support to concept, plan and execute marketing events for individual financial representatives’ practices

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Required
  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, advertising or communications
    7-10+ years marketing experience
  • Proven track record in developing and administering a marketing program with measureable results
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Highly-detailed and organized with the ability to prioritize multiple projects
  • Strong project management and collaboration skills

Preferred Experience:

  • Financial services experience a plus
  • Previous sales or business development experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs
  • Understanding of Social Media technologies (e.g., LinkedIn, Facebook and Twitter)
