CMO – Sears

The Business Unit DVP/VP, CMO role serves as one of the Business Unit President’s top business leaders to help drive the Digital and In-store business strategy, plan, and results. The incumbent translates business strategy into marketing strategy and plan and is the key decision maker for Business Unit marketing plans with alignment of the BU leadership team and Format marketing teams with an emphasis on the Shop Your Way Rewards membership program. This role collaborates with SHC senior marketing team/marketing resources to assure execution excellence and works as a “change agent” within the BU Leadership Team to drive transformational digital and variable change within the BU.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Drive Cross Business Unit Marketing Coordination/Alignment including:

Expert understanding of digital marketing and variable marketing (On-line & In-store)
Analytical and data driven utilizing the Shop Your Way membership program to its fullest extent
Recognize the difference between spending a given amount of money and driving a given amount of impact
Work in a highly complex and sophisticated structure
Use social media themselves on a regular basis for improving brand and customer relationship
Focus on customer relationship and life cycle
• Build strong interaction and relationships with key partners within marketing and across other functions/business units:
• Drives Customer Value Proposition including promotional plan, pricing, assortment, customer experience.
• Delivers a single point of view across format and single point of accountability
• Serves as a change agent
• Builds relationships with key vendor marketing leaders to bring added value to the business unit
• Drives and manages marketing budget for the business and acts as business input for SHC shared marketing assets.
• Owns marketing score card for the business and uses SHC analytic capabilities (MMA, MRM, etc.)

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Bachelors degree from four year college or university; MBA or other advanced degree preferred

• 10-15 years of related experience

• Broad Digital/E-commerce Marketing planning and execution experience

• Broad marketing view including all customer touch points (online, in-store, social media, brand, CRM, communications, etc.)

• Strong General Business Expertise

• Ability to translate business and operations plans into marketing opportunities

• Ability to inspire BU Leadership Team to pursue transformational initiatives

• Strong Strategic Thinker

• Ability to balance embedded merchant/ops expertise with broader strategic perspective
