CMO – Undertone (NYC)

At Undertone, we sit at the intersection of media, creative and technology. We have formed deep partnerships with the world’s best digital media properties, developed a suite of groundbreaking multi-screen creative formats for brands to leverage, and built technology platforms that underpin every aspect of campaign planning, delivery, optimization and measurement.
We are expanding our Executive Management Team with the addition of a Chief Marketing Officer (CMO). This ground-breaking marketing leader will oversee all Brand Marketing, PIXL (creative), and Product Marketing functions within Undertone reinforcing revenue-driven marketing objectives. This includes developing and executing strategies consistent with achieving these goals for the business including general awareness efforts, experiential marketing, positioning, product marketing, pricing, branding, and customer acquisition/retention strategies.
This position reports to the President and will be a key member of the Undertone executive team. A real understanding of the process, roles and realities of selling in big ideas paired with a passion for crafting compelling sales/product marketing strategies are at the core of this senior leadership position.
Job Responsibilities
Oversee the charge to re-examine and reinvigorate a marketing narrative to support the brand strategy clearly articulating the brand DNA and differentiation within the marketplace
Work cross-functionally to define a clear customer brand and compelling value proposition, to define our ongoing path to growth by shaping our identity, offerings and positioning in the marketplace
Establish the go-to-market vision, strategy and associated roadmaps for the Undertone product portfolio and communicate that vision and strategy across the organization
Take complex ideas and create a clear customer brand and value proposition that will follow the sales lifecycle end to end
Understand what drives market interest and market dynamics and translate these into actionable strategy & tactics to maximize goals and deliver on KPIs
Provide strong leadership and build a cohesive team with clearly defined goals; institute strong management processes to ensure goal-oriented, measurable successes that ensure the attainment of goals
Lead the process of driving out-of-the-box digital ad experiences for some of the world’s largest brands
Create, plan and implement GTM strategies and tactics for prospective & existing clients and products to enhance market awareness through messaging, positioning, packaging and thought leadership
Provide market intelligence, competitive analysis to implement pricing, channel strategies, promotional plans and delivery models
Contribute to strategic pricing and product differentiation initiatives
Recruit, inspire, lead and motivate members of the organization to capitalize on Undertone’s market opportunity
Collaborate on company marketing direction and strategy by working with leadership team to define programs and activities that position Undertone as a leader in the digital advertising industry
Communicate to broader stakeholders including investors and shareholders, when applicable
Drive the team to best communicate how Undertone delivers value to its customers and build a value focused culture
Be a role model and representative of the Undertone culture both internally and externally
Profile And Experience
A minimum of 15 years marketing management experience with a strong grasp of today’s rapidly evolving digital advertising landscape and a compelling and verifiable track record of revenue growth
A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree is required
Background/strong understanding of marketing digital advertising solutions to agency and enterprise customers
Hands on and highly entrepreneurial with a preference for rapidly evolving markets
Demonstrated success in branding and messaging through traditional and new social media channels
Strategic thinker that has the ability to build innovative marketing campaigns, combined with the tactical ability to execute
Must possess the ability to influence others, implement change and standardize processes in a complex environment
Superior analytical skills and particular attention to detail with good business judgment and exceptional maturity, diplomacy and communication skills (both written and verbal)
Must be tenacious, with the emotional intelligence to know when to push harder and when to look for alternative approaches
