VP, Corporate Communications – Franklin, TN

The Vice President, Corporate Communications will be a key leader reporting to the Chief People and Transformation Officer, one of six direct reports to the CEO. This role will responsible for our external messaging, brand positioning, public relations (PR), enterprise marketing, the Healthways.com website, the Healthways Foundation, and our overall social responsibility. The VP, Corporate Communications will act as a true and interconnected partner to other functions reporting under the Chief of Staff, to include change management, leadership and organizational development, internal communication, and events.

This role will also be responsible for the positioning of our CEO in the market place ensuring conferences, speaking engagements, and other public exposures meet the needs of our brand. The ideal candidate will be a seasoned public relations executive with established media contacts and the ability to find, synthesize and communicate Healthways’ unique and compelling brand to a diverse audience. In addition, the VP, Corporate Communications will understand the key role that PR plays in integrated marketing campaigns. He / she will guide and shape those campaigns for optimal impact. Experience and proven success in developing thought leadership programs and leveraging powerful, actionable content is essential. We’re looking for a strong activator and collaborator, as well as someone who can develop and share best practices, creatively work through barriers, and contribute to our team as we become the best in the industry.

Expectations: 

  • Spearhead the PR component of integrated marketing campaigns, setting strategy, building consensus, and carrying accountability for results
  • Develop press releases and proactive pitching strategies to national media and healthcare and human resources trade publications that support divisional sales efforts
  • Maintain effective media relationships; respond to inbound media inquiries; create talking points for key news items suitable for internal spokespeople and sales/account management teams
  • Manage and develop a small, but mighty team of 3-5 resources acting as both coach and player driving execution in the midst of a restructuring publicly traded company
  • Utilize diversity in thought, action, and in personal values to collaborate for best practices
  • Partner with sales and account management teams to fully understand market needs, sales goals, and strategies for addressing, all while enhancing brand awareness
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts, creative team, and external resources to create high-quality, compelling print and digital deliverables

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred
  • 10+ years of related experience
  • In-depth knowledge of the healthcare landscape, including general trends and market drivers; familiarity with well-being improvement solutions a plus
  • Exceptional relationship-building, customer service, problem-solving and communication skills
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, strong presentation skills with ability to create content and selling tools
  • Proven track record of prioritizing and delivering results within a dynamic environment
  • Ability to work comfortably and strategically with senior management teams, including those of our customers and partners
  • Superior organizational and multi-tasking abilities, plus a willingness to dive in wherever needed while still keeping assigned projects on track
  • Experience matching content to stages of the sales cycle and using marketing automation tools
  • Willingness to travel 50%
