We decided to turn the spotlightåÊon some of our very own and talk with the people who work each day to help make The CMO ClubåÊan amazing place for you and your peers. Here, we talk withåÊPete Krainik, Founder & CEO of The CMO Club.

1. What do you love most about your job?åÊ

Watching so many CMOs in the Club take pride and ownership of the group ‰ÛÒ I really love when I hear people say that this is ‰Û÷their club.‰Ûª And every time a new member joins, I really enjoy following their journey, from hearing the stories of their first dinners to – a few years down the road – seeing their pride in how long they have been members.

I also have made so many life-long new friends that would never have been possible if I hadn‰Ûªt started The CMO Club.

2. What is your favorite CMO Club memory?åÊ

I have three top moments:

For starters, I always love The CMO Club Chapter President‰Ûªs dinners the evening before our CMO Club Innovation Summits. It‰Ûªs such a close-knit group, and each and every person there is so passionate about making the club better. Nothing is held back and some of the best ideas and laughs have come from those dinners.

The second is when we rang the bell to close NASDAQ a few years ago. It was with 5-6 members from the early days of the Club. It was a proud moment to have created something that really is different and that the CMOs really love ‰ÛÒ but it‰Ûªs even better looking back now and seeing how far we‰Ûªve come.

Last, but not least, I remember singing on stage with Keith Urban at one of our first events. Every time I see the video of that performance, I‰Ûªm more concerned with my weight than the fact that I actually sang with Keith Urban ‰ÛÒ Keith Urban! He‰Ûªs such a talented artist and nice person.

3. What CMO Club programs, content, events and/or changes are you most excited about right now?

What‰Ûªs been great for members is that they identify their top challenges and top areas of expertise on their member profiles – then we match CMO experts with specific CMOs with that challenge. Just think of the value you could gain or share just by being able to reach out to another CMO that has the exact expertise and experiences you need to be successful.

4. What is the best piece of career advice you‰Ûªve ever received?

Nice guysåÊcanåÊfinish first. I‰Ûªm a firm believer that smart, creative, passionate and honest people that care about others can ‰ÛÒ and will ‰ÛÒ be successful.

5. What is something that most people don‰Ûªt know about you?

When I got out of college and was working for Gulf Oil in Houston, Texas in the early 80‰Ûªs, I actually did stand-up comedy a few nights a week for a year or so at one of the two (only two back then) comedy clubs in town. I had such a blast during that time.

6. Do you have a favorite food?

Two things ‰ÛÒ Crab legs and Nespresso. I‰Ûªm addicted to both.

7. Who is your hero?åÊ

Without a doubt, this is my father. He is now 93 years old and still wakes up every day thinking of others before himself ‰ÛÒ something that has never changed in his entire life. He is such an amazing father, husband and friend to many and I really respect him for that.

8. What do you do for fun?åÊ

My wife, Gina and I love to spend time at St. Pete Beach near our home in Tampa. It‰Ûªs paradise and we get to live here!
