The Houston Chapter of The CMO Club met recently for a roundtable on the topic of “Finding, Retaining and Motivating Talent”. To kick things off, each marketing executive at the table shared the top question that they ask during interviews to help them make better hiring decisions. Here is the list of top 10 questions they shared. Great insights to add to your own interview questions:

#1: What do you think of our website and/or mobile apps and how would you improve them? (Why? Candidates’ response indicates their interest level in the company as well as their initiative and creativity)

#2: Who has been the biggest influence in your life and why? (Why? Helps determine if candidate is a good cultural fit)


#3: What motivates you?


#4: What was your succession plan at your last company for making sure someone was in place to replace you? (Why? Their response could demonstrate a proactive approach to moving up in the organization)
